Winter Lights Festival

The first week in February

Experience Reykjavík transformed as the Winter Lights Festival celebrates the return of light after Iceland's darkest months. This beloved annual event brings the city to life in midwinter with over 150 free events centred around Museum Night, Pool Night, and Light Art installations throughout the city.

Museum Night takes place on Friday, February 6th, when museums across the capital area open their doors from 6pm to 11pm. Visitors of all ages can enjoy unconventional programming that offers a fresh perspective on the city's cultural institutions, all completely free of charge.

Pool Night follows on Saturday, February 7th, with free admission to multiple swimming pools from 5pm to 11pm. Guests can experience Reykjavík's iconic thermal pools in a magical evening setting, where light, darkness, and joy come together. Relax in the warm water and enjoy this unique moment under the winter sky.

Stunning light installations will illuminate the city throughout the festival, creating an enchanting atmosphere as locals and visitors celebrate winter's beauty together.

Free admission. Check out the Winter Lights Festival website for free scheduled events, participating museums and swimming pools.
