Step Lightly. Enjoy Deeply

Tiptoe Reykjavík helps you connect with the city, its nature and culture in a more meaningful way.

Join the Tiptoe Reykjavík Challenge below, and see that Reykjavík isn’t just a destination; it is for discovering the best in yourself when you travel, too.

Tiptoe Reykjavík is about travelling in a way that brings out the best of our city, and maybe in you, too.

We're pretty proud of our fresh air, great-tasting water, the ocean, black-sand beaches, waterfalls, lava fields, museums, and world-class restaurants — all located within the capital region. The way we live grew from this closeness: protecting the nature that surrounds us, welcoming people in with a warm cup of coffee, finding joy in small daily rituals and big nature moments.

We want to welcome you to Reykjavík and share these moments with you. Perhaps you'll discover that travelling lightly leads to more meaningful experiences when you visit.

See what's around the corner

The Greater Reykjavík Area isn't a single city. It's 14 diverse areas across six municipalities, each layered with unique landscapes, food spots, stories, and culture.

Choosing authentic experiences away from the city centre means you are not only supporting small businesses, enjoying local produce or connecting with the community, but you're also discovering Reykjavík in a new way.

How you can travel more mindfully

Video file

Reykjavík is a place where everyday life is part of the experience. People walk, take the bus, grab coffee on their way to work, and meet friends at the pool. When you travel with that in mind, you connect with the city more deeply.

Take your time. Sit longer in a café. Ask where people like to go after work. Shop local. Use public transport. Stay in the pool, not online.

Being a mindful traveller here isn’t about doing more.

When you move a little slower and go a little further, you notice more, and become a little kinder — to yourself, the planet and the people you meet along the way.
