Laugardalur valley and park

Laugardalur valley and park is undoubtedly the most popular outdoor area of Reykjavik, as the area is particularly suitable for outdoor activities, sheltered and luxuriant with well-organized hiking and biking paths. Laugardalur is also one of the main centers of sports activities in Reykjavik, and there are sports facilities such as Laugardalshöllin, Laugardalsvöllur, Laugardalslaug pool and Skautahöll Reykjavíkur Ice skating hall. Laugardalurinn area is the center of horticulture and the Botanical Garden Reykjavik is located in the heart of the valley.

A garage turns into a bookstore. Books from the well known poet and translator Geirlaugur Magnússon will be for sale. A good variety of books will be for sale as well, in many languages, e.g. Icelandic, Danish, English, Polish, Russian, German and of various kinds. It will be possible to exchange books and even bring books to the market. Everybody is asked to obey two meter social distance between individuals. Common equipment and surfaces will be disinfected and emphasis placed on personal hygienic measures and individual responsibility.

Valdís

Valdís is a very popular ice cream parlor in Reykjavík. Originally, Valdís started out having very basic flavours but they quickly realised that Icelanders are very adventurous when it comes to ice cream flavours. Valdís starting asking customers what flavours customers would like to see. The most popular flavours are ones that where suggestions from customers, for example Tyrkisk Peber and salted peanut and caramel. The last five years Valdís has tried making over 400 flavours and there are still new flavours coming out.

Mount Esja

The mountain Esja (914 m (2,999 ft)), often called Esjan, is situated in about 10 km to the north of our capital city in the town of Mosfellsbær. Esja is not a single mountain, but a volcanic mountain range, made from basalt and tuff. Within easy reach of the capital, Esja is a very popular recreation area for hikers and climbers. The best known hiking paths lead to the summits Þverfellshorn (780 m) and Kerhólakambur (851 m). Þverfellshorn is also easily accessible by public transport. The path is divided into sections, marked with signs along the way.

Selja­tjörn Pond

In the center of Seljahverfi in Breiðholt is a large green area around a man-made settling pond called Seljatjörn. The area around the pond is a popular outdoor recreation area, not only for children and senior citizens, but both schools and homes for the elderly are in the vicinity of the area. The garden has a gazebo and eco-friendly playground for children. The design and construction of Seltjarnar and the public park around the pond was completed in 1990.

Smáralind is the biggest shopping mall in Iceland. In Smáralind you'll find over 90 shops and businesses on three floors. We have an excellent selection of world- renowned labels.
