The Northern Lights Run 2025 takes place on Saturday, February 8, in downtown Reykjavík. This 4–5 km fun run or walk offers participants the chance to experience the city in a new light, as Reykjavík’s landmarks will be illuminated in celebration of the Winter Lights Festival. Along the route, entertainment stations featuring lights and music will create a unique experience for all ages.
Participants will receive a special registration package, including a race bib, a gift from 66°North, a wristband that flashes in sync with the music, and a tube of face paint. This allows everyone to become part of the light show and enhances the festive atmosphere.
Taking part in the Northern Lights Run is a great way to shake off the winter blues. Physical activity has positive effectson both mental and physical health, boosting energy and improving mood. By combining movement, dazzling lights, and music, this run offers a one-of-a-kind experience that brightens up the darkest months of the year and promotes well-being.
Registration for the run is open until 4:30 PM on February 8, 2025, at nordurljosahlaup.is. Participants can also register during race packet pickup, which takes place at 66°North’s store in Kringlan on Friday, February 7, from 4:00–6:30 PM, and on race day, Saturday, February 8, from 12:00–4:30 PM.
The event kicks off at 6:00 PM at the Reykjavík Art Museum, with rapper Emmsjé Gauti taking the stage at 6:30 PMto get runners pumped up before they set off at 7:00 PM.
