A light and playful singing program performed by Hallveig Rúnarsdóttir, soprano, and Matthildur Anna Gísladóttir, pianist. The program consists of beautiful songs and beloved arias that together span the entire emotional spectrum. The concert will take place in Norðurljós and last about 40 minutes. Admission is free and all are welcome while space permits. Hallveig Rúnarsdóttir has performed as a soloist all over the world and has sung solos in many of the major works from the musical canon. She has performed with symphony orchestras and held numerous solo concerts, both in Iceland and abroad, in addition to singing on recordings for publication and radio broadcasts. Hallveig has twice received the Icelandic Music Award for Singer of the Year in classical and contemporary music. She has also been nominated for the award three times and has also been nominated twice for the Gríma Awards as Singer of the Year. Hallveig is the founder and artistic director of the professional singing group Cantoque Ensemble and also works as a singing teacher and assistant principal of the Sigurðar Demetz Singing School.-- Matthildur Anna Gísladóttir graduated with a BA in solo performance from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2007. Next, she went to London, where she completed a master's degree in accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music. In 2014, she graduated from the Alexander Gibson Opera School at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a master's degree in opera training. There she received the James H. Geddes Repetiteur Award. Matthildur has been involved in opera productions, including at the Icelandic Opera, the Kópavogur Opera Days, British Youth Opera, Clonter Opera, Edinburgh Grand Opera, Lyric Opera Studio in Weimar, Scottish Opera, Royal Academy Opera and the Co-Opera Co in London. Matthildur currently holds the position of adjunct professor of instrumental performance at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, in addition to being a concertmaster at the College of Music.
