Did you know that during the Mutiny on the Bounty, hundreds of breadfruit seedlings were thrown overboard?
Have you heard of the plant collector who was caught in a devastating earthquake and narrowly escaped a tiger in his quest to find beautiful plants that now adorn the forest floors of Western gardens?
Plant hunters were and are adventurers who travel the world in search of exciting plants. The walk will examine various plants that came to the West through plant hunters.
Björk Þorleifsdóttir and Svavar Skúli Jónsson will lead the walk, which begins at 8 pm on Tuesday, July 15th at the main entrance to the Reykjavík Botanic Garden.
Please note that the educational walk will be in Icelandic.
Participation is free and all are welcome!
