On the occasion of Culture Night, photographer Gunnar V. Andrésson will give guided tours of his exhibition “Half a Century Through the Lens” at the Reykjavík Museum of Photography on Saturday, 23 August at 13:00 and 15:00. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
The exhibition “Half a Century Through the Lens” covers over fifty years of Gunnar V. Andrésson’s career as a news photographer – from 1966 to 2017.
His photographs, published in newspapers such as Tíminn, Vísir, DV (Dagblaðið Vísir), Fréttablaðið, and on the news website visir.is, are invaluable records of Icelandic national life.
The exhibition is arranged in a way that allows the viewer to walk through time, so to speak. The photos are imbued with the spirit of each era and clearly show the changes that occurred during the period – whether in the environment or in various aspects of society.
This event is part of the Reykjavík City Museum’s diverse program for Culture Night.
Accessibility is good at the Reykjavík Museum of Photography, and guide dogs are welcome in the museum.
