Welcome to a free evening walk in Polish through downtown Reykjavík on Thursday, 21 August at 20:00. Marta Wieczorek, deputy member of the Icelandic Parliament and assistant principal of the Polish School in Reykjavík, will lead the tour and share stories about women's history. The walk will take place in the city center, stopping at selected locations where Marta will talk about the history of women in Reykjavík. This year marks 110 years since Icelandic women aged 40 and over gained the right to vote and to run for Parliament. The tour begins at the Reykjavík City Library (Grófin), Tryggvagata 15, and will be conducted in Polish. It lasts about 1.5 hours. The tour is free, and all Polish speakers are warmly welcome. The walk is part of the “Evening Walks” event series, organized by the Reykjavík City Museum, Reykjavík City Library, Reykjavík Art Museum, and Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature. The walks take place on Thursdays throughout the summer months. Evening Walks are free of charge and everyone is warmly welcome. Accessibility: The walk will take place on sidewalks and squares in downtown Reykjavík, including flat areas and short slopes. Public Transport: Nearby bus stops include Hafnarhús, Lækjartorg, and Ráðhúsið (2–5 minutes walking distance).
