Come to Harpa and dance Argentine tango on Reykjavík Culture Night. Between 16 - 16:30, tango dancers and instructors Bryndís Halldórsdóttir and Hany Hadya will offer Argentine tango lessons. From 16:30 - 17:30, a Milonga will be offered where the dance floor will be open to everyone, both experienced and brand new dancers. DJ Byndís will spin dance-friendly tango music. All are welcome. Come with or without a dance partner. -- Tango originated in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and combines dance, music and poetry. Tango is improvisation; each dance is unique and is created as the couple dances together. The improvisation is based on basic steps but also has countless elements that can create increased depth, softness and power that makes the dance exceptionally interesting and exciting. Tango is a social phenomenon, people meet at tango venues, called Milonga, to dance tango. Argentine tango has triumphed all over the world and has become a lifelong hobby and passion for many, as tango can now be danced in all corners of the world. Bryndís and Hany are the first professional tango teachers in Iceland and have played a key role in building the tango scene in Iceland. They have danced tango together for a long time and studied with many of the world's leading tango teachers. They are the founders and teachers at Tangóstúdíó.
