This morning, I saw a girl - Trio Ljósa

Trio Ljósa is Diet Tilanus, violinist; Guja Sandholt, singer and Heleen Vegter, pianist. They have worked together for several years and performed in Iceland and the Netherlands.

During the concert in Háteigskirkja, they will perform music by Rebecca Clarke, Joseph Haydn, Johannes Brahms, Clara Schumann, Jón Leifs and Hildigunnur Rúnarsdóttir. The pieces are inspired by youth, love and folk music.

The highlight of the concert is a new song cycle by Hildigunnur Rúnarsdóttir (1964) composed to poems of Þór Sandholt (1964-1984) (brother of Guja Sandholt, the singer of the trio). The cycle was commissioned by the trio to commemorate Þór's life in 2024, the year he would have turned 60 years old. He was a young poet that touched many by his mature poems but his life was cut short due to illness at the tender age of 20 in 1984.
