Núritun Live Coding Space aims to create an open space for artists and programmers of all abilities and backgrounds to connect regularly, work on individual projects or collaborations, and learn about new technologies and practices. No coding experience or musical specialization is required—just bring your curiosity and an open mind!

In this kickoff discussion, we want to hear from you on what you'd like to get out of a regular meetup. Here are some ideas to get us started:

Open Lab Time: A computer lab with access to music, performance, and visual processing software, where you can tinker, experiment, and ask for help.
Mini-Introductions to Live Coding Software: Learn the basics of tools like Strudel TidalCycles.
Deep Dives into Tools and Techniques: Explore topics such as Max/MSP, Pure Data, Ableton Live, TouchDesigner, hardware synth design from scratch, Arduino-based instruments, and more.
Let's meet for coffee in the 5th floor Music and Visual Media space in Grófin and brainstorm how we can create a vibrant, welcoming space for live coding enthusiasts and newcomers alike!

Live coding is the creation of art and music by writing and changing computer programs while they run live. In the last few decades, this practice has emerged as a dynamic creative discipline, gaining attention across cultural and technical fields—from music and the visual arts to computer science. In live coding the composition happens in real time, where performers can communicate via sound, visuals, robotic and human movements, or basically anything that can be controlled. In performance the code is often projected on a screen for the audience to follow.

Ages: 16 years and older
No registration is required.
This event will be in both English and Icelandic.
