Join us for this festive performance of the Christmas Oratorio by J.S. Bach, taking place on December 29. in Eldborg, Harpa. Performers: The Motet Choir, Schola Cantorum Reykjavicencis, the International Baroque Orchestra in Reykjavík together with renowned soloists; Herdís Anna Jónasdóttir soprano, Alex Potter countertenor, Benedikt Kristjánsson tenor, and Jóhann Kristinsson bass. Concertmaster: Tuomo Suni. Conductor: Benedikt Kristjánsson.

J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio is one of the most celebrated pieces of music worldwide, performed around the world during the Christmas season, telling the story of the birth of Jesus through music in the most moving way. Performers are the The Motet Choir, Schola Cantorum Reykjavicencis, the International Baroque Orchestra in Reykjavík together with renowned soloists; Herdís Anna Jónasdóttir soprano, Alex Potter countertenor, Benedikt Kristjánsson tenor, taking both roles as the Evangelist as well as conductor, and Jóhann Kristinsson bass. Concertmaster: Tuomo Suni.

The Reykjavik Friends of the Arts Association invites you to join in this festive celebration with one the finest pieces of music of the musical repertoire, with 100 performers on stage, including the world-renowned musicians specializing in historical and baroque performance. During the concert, Cantatas I-II and V will be performed, each with a duration of ca 30min. The concert has a total duration of 2 and ½ hours with intermission.
