Temporary closure in Laugardalslaug for maintenance

It's time for maintenance in Laugardalslaug, so the pool has to be temporarily closed. The estimated construction time is two weeks and the swimming pool, which is the largest in Reykjavík, will be closed to the public from Tuesday, September 26. Swimming practices and school swimming remain unchanged despite the closure.

Maintenance of the pool has been going on for some time. "The maintenance closure of Laugardalslaug's outdoor pool is long overdue, but it's been a long time since the last maintenance closure," says Árni Jónsson, director of Laugardalslaug. "It is necessary to repair part of the cow's eyes in the pool tank, install a partition between the pool tank, repair the overflow pipes, repair the tiling and various other maintenance projects. At the same time, work will be done on various cleanings that cannot be accessed when guests are in the pool."

The aim is to open hot tubs as soon as conditions allow. Swimming practice and school swimming will remain unchanged, but during the maintenance closure, children in school swimming and swimming practitioners will use the old reception, as the new one will be closed. The massage therapist who works in Laugardalslaug will be open. According to the project plan, the project takes two weeks, but uncertainties in the work can affect the construction time and the time the pool has to be closed. Information will be published regularly on Laugardalslaugar's Facebook page and Instagram page, about the project and how it is moving forward.
