Let's celebrate the sea

The Icelandic króna coins feature fish and other sea creatures. Fish accounts for 40% of all exports in Iceland. It should not come as a surprise that we have a day dedicated to sailors and the sea.

The Festival of the Sea will be held 2nd-3rd of June. The Sunday being a national holiday: The Fishermen's Day. The festival is celebrated all across the country, with sea-related entertainment for the whole family by the harbor. Guests can enjoy sailing, sea swimming, various entertainments and a large variety of sea creatures on display in tubs.
