Opening Concert NKSF 2025 Thursday May 29 @ 8 pm Hallgrímskirkja Free entrance At the opening concert, the Choir of Hallgrímskirkja will present a program showcasing some of the finest choral music from Iceland. Björn Steinar Sólbergsson, Organist, will perform solo pieces at the concert. The Choir of Hallgrímskirkja was founded in the autumn of 2021. The choir consists of around 55 singers who perform both at services and concerts in Hallgrímskirkja. The choir has a diverse repertoire and places strong emphasis on promoting new Icelandic choral music. Since its foundation, the Choir of Hallgrímskirkja has commissioned and premiered 11 new works by Icelandic composers. The choir has performed with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and maintains a strong collaboration with the Brák Baroque Ensemble as well as the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra. The conductor of the Choir of Hallgrímskirkja is Steinar Logi Helgason.
