Cumbia, originally from Colombia’s Caribbean coast, is a genre with Afro-Indigenous roots that has evolved and spread throughout Latin America. Each country has infused it with its own character, incorporating local instruments, rhythms, and styles, making it a diverse and ever-evolving musical phenomenon. Dimensión embodies this diversity through its lineup of musicians: Carlos Guarneros (Mexico) on guitar, Andrés (Argentina) on bass, Diego Hidalgo (Chile) on minor percussion, charango, and flute, Jort (Netherlands) on congas, and Rafael Torrealba (Venezuela) on campana and güiro. Through our interpretation of cumbia, we aim to expand its horizons, preserving its festive essence while exploring new textures and soundscapes.
