Much of the most fascinating aspects of Icelandic medieval culture emerged from the friction between religion and politics. The unusual coexistence of paganism and Christianity around the year 1000, as well as the dramatic Reformation over 500 years later, had profound and decisive effects on the nation’s cultural life, leaving deep imprints on the Icelandic identity.
During the tour, participants will pause to explore artworks, craftsmanship, and other tangible cultural heritage that preserve this history.
We look forward to seeing you. Free entry on Museum Night.
