Andrea Lissioni Artistic Director of Haus der Kunst will give a talk in Hafnarhús Thursday evening 2 October at 20h00. Since 2022, Haus der Kunst has been in a fast process of motion and transformation. They dedicate their work to living artists, proposing new lines in art history, questioning the previous canon, stereotypes, and rhetorics with an outlook into the future. Grounded on a transdisciplinary, transnational, and transgenerational perspective, the program is based on the assumption that “Everything is Program,” without hierarchies between departments. As the main operation tool, the program explicitly interlinks all projects to form a common learning and engagement thread evolving throughout the years, and fostering a new context that develops with a strong understanding of the increasingly digitalized world in which we live. Andrea Lissoni, PhD, is Artistic Director of Haus der Kunst. His curatorial program is based on transdisciplinary and transgenerational approaches in which all strands of artistic practices are deeply connected and started in April 2022 with the sound and music residency series TUNE and the series of intertwined exhibitions by Fujiko Nakaya, Dumb Type, Carsten Nicolai, Christine Sun Kim, Tony Cokes, Karrabing Film Collective. The series continued with Inside Other Spaces. Environments by Women Artists 1956—1976, alongside shows by WangShui, Martino Gamper and Meredith Monk and developed further, with solo exhibitions by Pan Daijing, Liliane Lijn, Rebecca Horn, Pussy Riot and Philippe Parreno. He sits in the Advisory Boards of Fundacao Serralves, Masi Lugano, Loop Barcelona, Centro Pecci di Prato and on the Board of Fondazione MAST Bologna. The Talk Series program brings the flourishing ideas and diverse practices within the international contemporary art scene to the Icelandic art community and the public at large. Each guest is asked to offer an insight into the field through a public lecture at the Reykjavik Art Museum, studio visits and a seminar lecture at the Department of Fine Art as well as an introduction to the Icelandic art scene through visits to practicing artists studios and the gallery and museum scene. The overall aim of the program is to support a stronger link between local aspects and broader perspectives of contemporary art. By joining the resources of three major local art institutions the wish is to convey current topics of art to both younger and established artists, art students and the general public alike. The talk is in English.
