We look forward to welcoming you on Museum Night! Enjoy diverse exhibitions and events.
Among the highlights is the exhibition "The Lögrétta Valances", which opened last summer to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Icelandic Republic.
The Lögrétta Valances are believed to have hung in the Lögrétta House at Þingvellir during the late 18th century. They were sold to a Scottish traveler in 1858 and are now part of the collection of the National Museum of Scotland.
The valances consist of two unequal-length bed hangings made of wool and linen, sewn together along the long edge. They are decorated with embroidery and inscriptions. One features proverbs, while the other contains fragments of a Passion Hymn by Hallgrímur Pétursson.
The Lögrétta Valances are on loan from the National Museum of Scotland. The exhibition is located in The Corner on the 3rd floor.
The Museum Shop will be open from 6 PM to 11 PM on Museum Night, and there will be special offers at the café.
We look forward to seeing you. Free entry on Museum Night.
