International Chess Day is July 20 every year. The occasion is the establishment of FIDE - the International Chess Federation, which was founded on that day, in 1924, and celebrates its 100th anniversary.

On this occasion, FIDE plans to host a world record attempt on July 20. The goal is a record number of chess players in the world that day. See: https://100.fide.com/gwr/.

The Icelandic Chess Federation plans to take part in this world record attempt and invites a birthday tournament at Ingolfstorg, at 13!
