In the past few weeks Hulda Kristín Hauksdóttir and Kristrún Rut H. Antonsdóttir, students in fashion design at Iceland University of the Arts, have been working in an open workshop space at the Hönnunarsafn. They are working on a project about Icelandic handknitting with a grant from the Icelandic Student Innovation Fund from Rannís. The project is a starting point in a bigger research project that Ragna Sigríður Bjarnadóttir, the head of the Fashion Design Programme at the Iceland University of the Arts, is starting. At the Hönnunarsafn Hulda and Kristrún have been researching, knitting samples, tested new methods and techniques, taken interviews and worked creatively with the handknitting tradition and will on this harvest celebration be showcasing their work so far as well as inviting guests to have a coffee, sit down and try to knit something new!
