Beginning of a studio stay in connection with the Wonderland exhibition in Ásmundarsafn.
Reykjavík Art Museum invites visitors to witness a performance by artist Halldór Ásgeirsson, where he works with his signature material – molten lava.
In this event, which marks the beginning of Halldór’s studio residency in connection with the project Undraland, the material itself – lava – is brought to the forefront as a living and transformable form.
This June marks 242 years since the start of the Skaftá eruption, the largest lava eruption in Icelandic history. It had a wide-ranging impact both domestically and internationally, including the so-called Móðuharðindi (The Mist Hardship), which led to major disasters in Iceland. Halldór focuses on this historic event and other earthquakes of the past and present in a project he calls Production Center for Volcanic Eruption.
