Dialogue on Creative Industries is a series of informal meetings held on the first Thursday of each month, organized by the Creative Industries Research Center in collaboration with CCP. Through this series, the Creative Industries Research Center aims to create a platform for discussion among enthusiasts of creative industries by connecting stakeholders from the private sector, academia, institutions, and government, thereby promoting the dialogue about culture and creative industries. On Thursday, April 3rd, the sixth dialogue will take place, focusing on design thinking. Michael Hendrix, will give a presentation on design thinking and how it can be strengthened in Iceland. R. Michael is a creative director, professor, and author. Before founding Huldunótur he was Global Design Director at IDEO, a top design and innovation firm. With 30 years of experience, he has delivered keynotes at Fast Company, WIRED, SXSW, AIGA, and more, plus music talks at SXSW Music, Sonar Plus, and Moogfest. He was an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music, inspiring his book Two Beats Ahead, co-authored with Panos A. Panay. In Iceland he is an adjunct professor at Háskólinn á Bifröst and has spoken at HönnunarMars, Iceland Innovation Week, and appeared on RÚV Kastljós. The design team Þykjó will give a presentation about the project Children at the Table, a project in the field of children's cultural design and service design related to urban planning, which won the Icelandic Design Awards in 2024. ÞYKJÓ is an enchanting world of installations, costumes, and toys for children. It was founded in 2019 by Sigríður Sunna Reynisdóttir, a practicing artistic director. Alongside her, the team includes designers with diverse backgrounds, such as Ninna Þórarinsdóttir, a children's cultural designer, Erla Ólafsdóttir, an architect, Sigurbjörg Stefánsdóttir, a fashion designer, and Embla Vigfúsdóttir, a game designer. The designers of ÞYKJÓ work in interdisciplinary collaboration with artists and scientists, and last but not least, in dialogue with children. Their design work aims to stimulate children's imagination and creativity in collaboration with educational and cultural institutions The event will be held at CCP's premises in Grósku, Bjargargata 1, third floor, and CCP will provide a light breakfast for the attendees. The event will be in English, and the presentations will be streamed.
