Stockfish Film Festival
Stockfish Film Festival & Industry Days is a non-profit international film festival held each March at Bíó Paradís, Iceland’s only art-house cinema. Each year, the festival screens approximately 30 hand-picked, award-winning films and hosts a range of events and meet-ups for both industry professionals and cinema lovers.
The festival is operated by a Board of Directors, which includes members from Iceland’s major film professional associations. Founded in 2015, Stockfish is the modern continuation of the Reykjavík Film Festival (Kvikmyndahátíð Reykjavíkur), originally established in 1978. It appeals to filmmakers, industry professionals, and those passionate about the future of international cinema.
The festival’s mission is to foster collaboration between Icelandic and international film communities. Over the years, Stockfish has welcomed numerous internationally acclaimed directors and film professionals to speak at its panels, Q&As, masterclasses, and networking events.
Stockfish showcases some of the most exciting and innovative films on the global festival circuit—titles that might otherwise never reach Icelandic audiences. The festival also provides a platform for open dialogue about filmmaking, the film industry, and the creative community at large.
A true collaboration between all major film professional associations in Iceland, Stockfish is committed to serving the film community, enriching Iceland’s film culture, and supporting the industry at both local and international levels.
