I feel like I have slipped into the wrong timeline. Like I am living some parallel life and some other version of me is still sitting by my husband’s side. We first met while busking (street performing) in Galway, Ireland, in 2016. From the moment our voices locked in harmony, it was as if I had found the missing piece of the puzzle, that I didn’t even know I needed. We sang for hours that day in the street and have done so ever since. Music is a huge part of our lives, we formed our band (A Different Thread) in 2017 and have written dozens of songs together while touring Europe, the USA, and even Mexico and Guatemala! We married in 2018 surrounded by friends and family. In an old tradition, we jumped over the broom (a broomstick that has been in my family for 5 generations) and tied our ribbon around it to mark our union. In March 2020 we had arrived in Ireland for an ‘anniversary tour’, right before Covid shut everything down. With canceled tours and halted income, we relied on the kindness and generosity of friends and family to stay together, but without any gigs, (and thus, no artist visa) it was only a matter of time before I had to return to the USA, alone. I am now stuck here doing odd jobs (currently selling Christmas trees in New York City) and Robert is still in England, performing solo. In October we applied for a Green Card for Robert, and we are now faced with up to 18 months apart while we wait to hear back from them. As winter sets in and the lonely months stretch in each direction, I miss him more than ever. This reunion would mean the world to both of us. Besides, we’ve always talked about going to Iceland and seeing the northern lights! Reuniting with each other in person during these difficult times, in a new place, would be exactly the kind of adventure that would tide us over until we can meet again. And who knows, we might even write a new song about it!

This is my friend Cortina. and I. If we were lucky enough to win, I would love to be able to treat this wonderful woman to the delights Iceland has to offer. We'd spend a few days soaking up the charm of Reykjavik, do a girls spa day at the Blue Lagoon, and of course the Golden circle. Then, a few more days to see the glaciers at Jökulsárlón and the volcanic beaches.

This is my boyfriend Jesse. He’s in the military and stationed in England, while I’m in California. Due to covid, we haven’t seen each other in 2 years. It would mean so much to us to be able to reunite in Reykjavik, my
