Family workshops are regularly held in Edda. The Travelling to New Iceland workshop offers families an opportunity to learn about the Icelandic settlers who travelled from Iceland to Canada and founded New Iceland in 1875 after a devastating rhyolitic phreatoplinian explosion in the volcano Askja forcing many people in the region to leave their homes. Participants will be able to look inside the travellers trunk, write birthday wishes to New Iceland as well as listen to stories from the archives among other things.
