Margrét Elísabet Ólafsdóttir, professor at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, in a conversation about Steina's life and art.
Margrét Elísabet has for years researched the relationship between art and technology, with a particular emphasis on electronic and digital media in the Icelandic context. She has shed clear light on Steina's contribution to the development of video art, both through academic writing and curatorship. Among other things, she directed the exhibition Icelandic Video Art 1975–1990 at the Reykjavík Art Museum, in which Steina's work played a key role. Margrét has also participated in international discussions about the work of Steina and Woody Vasulka and has been responsible for their introduction in the contemporary art scene.
