Flóð & fjara and Textíl Barinn invite all guests and passers-by to nourishing knitting sessions under the open sky in collaboration with Sumarborgin. Garden knitting sessions take place in the Hljómskálagarður this summer, where everyone who is interested is given the opportunity to sit down and knit. This way, beautiful moments of togetherness can be created with an unexpected combination of people of all ages. Basic knitting lessons and all materials will be on site each time, and after the summer, a garden blanket will be made from what the participants have knitted. You are also welcome to come with your own knitting/crocheting/handicrafts and participate in the session. The sessions are two hours long and open to everyone. The class is two hours long and open to everyone. The goal is to use recycled and leftover threads and thereby demonstrate what can be done with that material. Handicraft is a healing act and if it is practiced in a group or together with others, the power and magic increase. Creativity increases well-being and seeing work being created in your own hands is empowering and enjoyable. The idea with the Garden Knitting event is to allow the flow of the mind, heart and hands to create and trust that the result will be what it is supposed to be. This is a liberating act that calms the nervous system but stimulates positive activity in the brain.
