A course for adults on the great pioneering artist in the field of video art, Steina Vasulka.
This course is designed for individuals with a basic knowledge of modern and contemporary art and a strong interest in exploring time-based media,–art forms that unfold over time, including film, video, audio, and computer-based technologies. It will introduce key terms used to define time-based media and provide an overview of its historical and contemporary developments.
Participants will examine works by contemporary artists and take full advantage of the exhibition Steina: Playback, which will be on view at both The National Gallery of Iceland and The Reykjavík Art Museum.
A central focus will be an in-depth discussion of the work of one of the great pioneering artists in the field, Steina Vasulka.
The course is in Icelandic and English.
