The Winter Lights Festival was formally opened yesterday with the unveiling of the artwork Slettireka (Busybody) by Halldór Eldjárn and Þórður Hans Baldursson.

The Harpa façade was turned into a beautiful interactive canvas by participants. They logged onto a website, selected their colors and the effects were seen immediately. The website will be open all weekend and everyone can participate and watch their creations come alive on the surface of the Harpa Music Hall.

Tonight is Museum Night and there will be more than 100 events to choose from in almost 40 museums. The museum bus, which is based at Kjarvalstaðir Art Museum, provides transportation between all the venues.

Pool Night is on Saturday  in the light and darkness, with an exciting programme of events for visitors of all ages. Admission is free at nine swimming pools from16:00 - 24:00.
