The World of Icelandic Music is a new experiential exhibition located at the main entrance of Harpa concert hall.
Through an evocative audio guide, visitors embark on a voyage through the world of Icelandic music, from the earliest settlement to the present day. What forces have shaped such a dynamic music scene at the edge of the world? Is there such a thing as a distinctly Icelandic sound?
The World of Icelandic Music invites guests of all ages to explore how natural forces, historical events and cultural influences have shaped Iceland’s musical landscape, and how such influences may have resonated in the work of artists such as Björk, Sigur Rós, Kaleo, Bubbi Morthens, Víkingur Heiðar Ólafsson and Kristján Jóhannsson.
Whether you are a music enthusiast, a history lover, or simply looking for a dive into Iceland’s remarkable culture, this exhibition offers a unique window into the nation’s creative soul.
Visiting the exhibition takes approximately 30 minutes and the audio guide is available in all major languages.
