At the helm of OTO’s kitchen is Sigurður Laufdal, an award-winning Icelandic chef with a remarkable career spanning celebrated kitchens in Iceland and abroad. His impressive résumé includes renowned establishments such as Geranium in Copenhagen and Olo in Helsinki.
Sigurður was crowned Iceland’s Chef of the Year in 2011 and represented his country at the prestigious Bocuse d’Or competition in 2012–2013, earning fourth place and the special prize for the best fish dish. In 2020, he achieved fourth place again, along with another award for best fish dish. Drawing inspiration from his Icelandic roots, Sigurður emphasizes simplicity and well-balanced flavours, using the finest fresh ingredients sourced from the pristine natural surroundings of his North Atlantic home.
