MATUR OG DRYKKUR is a Michelin Guide–recommended, family-run restaurant specialising in classical Icelandic cuisine with a modern twist. The team goes to great lengths to unearth old Icelandic cookbooks and other written materials, searching for traditional recipes that can be reimagined in new and inventive ways. Every dish on the menu is crafted using first-class local produce.

The restaurant is housed in a former salt fish factory by the harbour area known to locals as Grandi. Built in 1924 and used for salting fish until the late 1960s, the building now serves as a warm and welcoming home for one of Reykjavík’s most distinctive dining experiences.
