Experience first-hand how green, sustainable energy is produced at one of the largest single-site geothermal power plants on the planet, Hellisheiði ON Power plant. Located in a stunning setting surrounded by lava and moss.

Visitors to the geothermal exhibition are presented with a unique and exciting opportunity to learn about geothermal power and sustainable energy in Iceland. Visitors can see into the turbine halls of the plant, enjoy interactive and educational displays, and learn about ON's partnership with Carbfix, a leading solution for CO2 storage. You will experience first-hand how ON produces electricity for the national grid and hot water for the capital region.

Visitors should remember to bring their own smartphones and headphones to enjoy the audio guide fully.

There are many reasons to stop by the exhibition beyond learning about sustainable energy and the power plant. Visitors can enjoy scenic landscapes during their visit with a cup of coffee and chat with our experienced staff, asking any questions they may have. Take a moment to relax in our Agndofa art installation, a multi-sensory experience introducing you to the natural landscape. There is a well-stocked souvenir shop filled with local products and Icelandic design. Refill your water bottle, charge your car, or stop by on your way to the many beautiful hiking trails in the Hengill area.

The exhibition at Hellisheiði Power Plant is ideally located in the Hengill area only a 20-minute drive from Reykjavik on your way to the South of Iceland. Drive along the main road heading towards Hveragerði, Selfoss, and the Golden Circle.
