The 11th edition of Stockfish Film & Industry Festival is just around the corner, and it promises 11 days packed with screenings, discussions, and fresh voices in cinema. Whether you're a filmmaker, student, or cinephile, this is your chance to connect, learn, and be inspired—right in the heart of Reykjavík.

Shortfish (Sprettfiskur)
Iceland’s leading short film competition returns with a sharp and diverse lineup:

  • Narrative shorts, documentaries, experimental films, and music videos
  • A platform for emerging talent from Iceland and beyond
  • Sponsored by KUKL Equipment Rental and RÚV
  • Featuring the Eva María Daniels Award: 1.5 million ISK to support an exceptional filmmaker’s next project

Physical Cinema
Curated by director and choreographer Helena Jónsdóttir, this section explores the powerful connection between movement, sound, and image:

  • A 70-minute curated program of dance-inspired short films at Bíó Paradís
  • One standout film will be selected to represent Stockfish at Cannes Festival de Danse

Stockfish: Rooted in Icelandic Film History

Originally founded as the Reykjavík Film Festival in 1978, Stockfish was relaunched in 2015 with a renewed mission to strengthen and elevate Iceland’s film industry.
The festival is led by Dögg Mósesdóttir and Halla Þórlaug Óskarsdóttir, and governed by Iceland’s key film organizations (FLH, IKS, FÍL, and others), ensuring transparency and creative integrity.
