Sexlife of fish
Náttúrufræðistofa Kópavogs
6. February 2026
Open from 20:00–20:30
At the Kópavogur Museum Night you can learn about the mysteries of fish reproduction!
Fish reproduction is much more complex and fun than many people realize. It is a meeting point for natural science, behavior and incredible adaptations in an environment where everything is about survival and reproduction. At the Kópavogur Museum Night, Lísa Anne Libungan, marine biologist and chairwoman of the Icelandic Natural History Society, will give a lively and informative lecture on fish reproduction in seawater and freshwater.
The lecture will cover, among other things:
– Mating behavior where competition and communication play key roles
– Reproductive diversity that is unlike anything many people know
– Why it pays for some salmon to be a pair?
The lecture will be on a light note, without sacrificing academic quality. It is intended for an adult audience and is suitable for anyone interested in nature, biology and life below the surface of the sea and water. Come and get a new perspective on fish life. It will be informative and a little spicy!
The talk will be given on the stage on the 2nd floor.
Admission is free.
All welcome.
