Reykjavík Art Museum during the Autumn Break
Hafnarhús
25. October 2025
Open from 10:00–17:00
Ásmundarsafn, Sigtún
Art Museum Bingo for curious kids all through the autumn break! Prizes are available for those who get bingo. At Ásmundarsafn, guests can always enjoy free coffee, and children can discover a secret drawer filled with curious little treasures.
On Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 PM, there will be a family tour and workshop in Ukrainian. Iryna Kamienieva will guide families through the dome-shaped home of sculptor Ásmundur Sveinsson and his sculptures. Afterwards, children will have the opportunity to create their own works inspired by the tour.

Kjarvalsstaðir, Flókagata 24
At the Kjarvalsstaðir family room, you can take part in a large textile artwork inspired by Kristín Gunnlaugsdóttir. Interested children can pick up needles and yarn at the reception. There will also be a scavenger hunt through the exhibition Kjarval and the 21st Century — with prizes for those who complete it!
On Monday, October 27 from 1:00–3:00 PM, there will be a fun textile workshop where participants can try creative embroidery inspired by Kristín Gunnlaugsdóttir’s work. All materials are provided.

Hafnarhús, Tryggvagata 17
At Hafnarhús, we get to know the video artist Steina, and every child who visits the museum receives a small Steina booklet that guides them through the exhibition. The exhibition Steina: Playback is a collaboration between the Reykjavík Art Museum and the National Gallery of Iceland, and the booklet can be used at both museums. Those who visit both venues can also take part in a fun game — with a chance to win prizes!
On Tuesday, October 28 from 1:00–3:00 PM, there will be a Green Screen Workshop. At the Steina: Playback exhibition, a playful green screen studio has been set up — a technique used to combine two images in a video. All materials are provided, but participants who wish to record with their own devices are welcome to bring them and get help from an instructor to install the right app.

At all Reykjavík Art Museum events for children and families, it is expected that children are accompanied by adult family members so everyone can enjoy the experience together.
