J.BEAR & THE CUBS

The band j. bear & the cubs was formed at the end of February 2025 and only to play at Músíktilraunir, but once the ball got going it didn't stop rolling. Now the band's leader is busy finishing all the songs that were forgotten over the years and the band plans to play anywhere and anytime to spread good energy and the message of love that goes: "You don't have to suffer in private."

Band members are Jasper Matthew Bunch, Óðinn Ýmisson, Sigurður Már Gestsson and Sindri Þór Atlason.

VENUS VOLCANISM

Venus Volcanism is the solo music and sound art project of Rena Rasouli, a vocalist, composer, producer and sound explorer originally from Crete, Greece, currently based in Siglufjörður ,Northern Iceland. Her artistic practice focuses on voice as a tool of memory, healing and transformation, merging tradition with experimental sound to create deeply immersive and emotionally resonant experiences.Venus Volcanism has performed live in Greece, Denmark and Iceland. Her performances often expand beyond the concert format, incorporating site-specific sound, spatial listening and ritualistic elements.

GARGAN

Gargan creates a diverse world of sounds; clarinet textures, ambient sounds, recordings of broken appliances and classic household items, synthesizers and voices. They invite listeners on a journey through different sound worlds and explore the full range of emotions. In a live performance, a clarinetist gurgles through his instrument and we hear electronic noises and noises of all shapes and sizes. The music is both raw and deep, structured but uncontrolled at the same time. Gargan are Bergþóra Kristbergsdóttir and Hulda Ragnhildur Hjálmarsdóttir.

*** Please note that Jelena Ciric, who was in the initial lineup for the concert, will perform on March 10 in Upprásin Concert Series.
