Kristín Helga Ríkharðsdóttir is a visual artist. She graduated from the Department of Fine Art at the Iceland University of the Arts in 2016 and participated in an exchange program at the Universität der Künste in Berlin, where she also completed an internship after graduation. In 2019, she moved to New York to pursue a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Studio Art at New York University, which she completed in January 2022.
Her work has been exhibited widely, both in Iceland and internationally, including at Gerðarsafn, Þula, Hafnarborg, the Living Art Museum (Nýlistasafnið), MUTT Gallery, and 80WSE in New York. In the summer of 2024, she participated in an artist residency at ISCP in New York, supported by the Icelandic Art Center. Her video works have received awards at film festivals, and her music video for the song Date Me – I’m Bored was nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards in 2019. She has received numerous grants and recognitions, including a grant and fellowship from the Leifur Eiríksson Foundation (2020–2021), a grant from the Guðmunda Andrésdóttir Fund in 2020, a grant from the Scandinavian Foundation in 2019, and a scholarship from Landsbankinn in 2021 for promising students.
Kristín has been active in the visual arts community. She served on the alternate board of the Living Art Museum (Nýlistasafnið) from 2018 to 2020, was part of the curatorial team for the exhibition series “Rólegt og Rómantískt” at Harbinger in 2019, and has been a member of the Kling & Bang artist-run group since 2020.
The exhibition series in D-sal was launched in 2007. It offers artists who have had a formative impact on the Icelandic contemporary art scene the opportunity to present their first solo exhibition in a public museum.
