In this introduction to E-Textiles we will explore the basics of combining textiles with simple electronics. This hands-on session, led by Emma Shannon, will introduce conductive materials, soft circuits and creative approaches to stitching, making and experimenting with fabric-based technology.
No prior experience with electronics is required — this workshop is designed for beginners and anyone interested in textiles, art, design or STEAM. By the end of the session, you’ll have a better understanding of e-textiles and the confidence to start experimenting on your own.
Emma Shannon is a Reykjavik based, Scottish Textile Artist and Designer whose work explores the intersection of wearable technology and traditional craft. By combining hands-on making with emerging technologies, she specialises in creating inclusive interdisciplinary spaces that foster experimentation and future-facing solutions for sustainability and creative collaboration. As a part of the Endurtakk collective and the repair cafe community her focus has been on the creative reuse, repair and reimagining of locally sourced textiles and clothing.
