Lou Reed DRONES

Tryggvagata 17, 101 Reykjavík

Hafnarhús

7. January 2026

Open from 16:00–18:00

The work is based on guitars from the collection of Laurie's life partner, American musician Lou Reed, who died in 2013. He was best known as the founder and lead singer of the band The Velvet Underground. The instruments are arranged in such a way that powerful beats and resonances fill the space with hundreds of chords that flow together in an emotional soundscape. The event is organized by Smekkleysa and hosted by the Reykjavík Art Museum in connection with the retrospective exhibition Steina: Tímaflakk. It is part of three events marking Laurie Anderson's visit to Iceland in early 2026:
• Republic of Love concert at Harpa that same evening
• Three Violas at the National Gallery of Iceland the following weekend
