Flowering takes place in the spring. That is what we expect. But for the last year some strange colourful species have grown out of textiles in the hands of the Icelandic artist Rósa Sigrún Jónsdóttir. Now they have found rooting among some old and dying conifers in the Reykjavík Botanic Garden.
In times of declining ecosystems as we know them, we think about concepts like evolution, mutations and invasions, and the role of the human species in this circle of life and death. Where are we heading?
Exhibition opening at the Reykjavík Botanic Garden on September 3rd at 18:00.
Guided tour on September 16th at 12:00.
The exhibition will be up throughout September.
Rósa Sigrún Jónsdóttir graduated from the Teaching University of Iceland in 1987 and then the Iceland Academy of the arts in 2001. She has held solo exhibitions in Iceland and abroad and participated in a multitude of group exhibitions.
