Hallgrímskirkja church

Hallgrímskirkja stands guard over Reykjavík. The church is both a parish church and a national sanctuary in Iceland. Its stepped concrete facade is an ode to modernism and a reminder of the Icelandic landscape. The church is named after the 17th-century clergyman Hallgrímur Pétursson, author of Hymns of the Passion. Hallgrímskirkja is an Evangelical-Lutheran church and is a part of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Iceland. Hallgrímskirkja is one of the most visited places by tourists in Iceland. Every day thousands of people visit the church. Admission to the church is free.

Ásvallalaug pool

Ásvallalaug was first opened in 2008. The swim centre is one of the biggest in Iceland, about 6.000 m². In the same building is a Reebok Fitness gym, Ásmegin physiotherapy, the swimming club Sundfélag Hafnarfjarðar and the sport club Fjörður. The sports centre is a 50-meter long swimming pool that is usually divided by a bridge so that half of the pool is 25 meters and half is 50 meters. There is also a 17-meter children´s pool that is 0,9 – 1,1 meters deep. Then there is another children´s pool that is about 10 meters big for the youngest children with toys.

Lava Hostel offers the following facilities and services: 8 rooms, a total of 30 beds in 2-6 bedded private and shared rooms. Guest kitchen, dining area, free WiFi, washing machine and dryer, WC, and showers are shared. For larger groups, we offer a 120m2 assembly room that can accommodate up to 45 people on mattresses as well as access to our large kitchen. We also offer breakfast for groups.
