Icelanders are often referred to as literary notebook readers, and many people living in Iceland read for pleasure.  Throughout history, Icelanders have, through translated literature, gotten to know other cultures. Can we connect through translated literature? On the other hand, there is a growing group that reads little or none. How can we reverse that and reach a wider audience? Can translations be a part of that process?

Hallgrímur Helgason is one of Iceland's best, most well-known authors, and his books have been published in multiple languages.

Veronika Egyed studied literature, linguistics, and philosophy at the ELTE University in Budapest. She studied Icelandic at the University of Iceland and has a master's degree in medieval studies.

Luciano Dutra, a graduate of Icelandic and translation studies, has made significant strides in promoting Icelandic literature globally. He founded Sagarana editora forlag in Reykjavik, a publishing house dedicated to translating Icelandic literature into Portuguese for the Brazilian audience. His efforts were recognized with the prestigious Orðstír Award for his outstanding translations.

The seminar will occur from 11:30-12:15 and will be in Icelandic.
