The Garden of Cloud Sculptures is a playful public art event that transforms part of grassy area in Klambratún Park, next to the art gallery, into an pop-up exhibition space. Here, the boundaries between artist and audience dissolve in a celebration of creativity, spontaneity, and the ephemeral beauty of the moment.
At the heart of the project are foam generators, continuously producing soft, cloud-like party foam. Visitors of all ages are invited to engage directly with the material — playing, shaping, sculpting and stacking the foam into fantastical forms or use their own bodies to become moving sculptures themselves.
These temporary sculptures, whimsical and fragile, are placed on designated pedestals, elevating everyday play into artistic gesture.
Creation can be documented using a Polaroid camera, capturing a fleeting moment before the foam melts away. These instant photos are then displayed on-site, creating a growing archive of community-made cloud forms. Over time, the exhibition becomes a collective portrait of imagination, weather, and playfulness.
The Garden of Cloud Sculptures invites passersby to pause, participate, and consider how art can live outside the gallery walls—in air, in hands, and in shared experience. The event bridges public space and contemporary art, encouraging curiosity, collaboration, and joyful impermanence.
The project has been supported by a grant from Menningarnæturpott Landsbankans 2025.
