Geneva Camerata presents a unique encounter between the world of krump - a hip-hop dance style developed in the suburbs of Los Angeles - and one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of music, Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony. Performed by the orchestra's musicians, who dance simultaneously alongside the four hip-hop dancers Grichka, Dexter, Hendrickx and Melissa, this performance explores a number of current social themes, such as tolerance, courage and freedom. To open the evening, GECA will perform Battle Zone by Alexandre Mastrangelo (born in 1989), commissioned by the Geneva Camerata for the REVOLTA project (2025) Kader Attou Choreogrpahy and scenography Grichka Choreography, hip hop and krump dance Melissa Hip hop and krump dance Dexter Hip hop and krump dance Hendrickx Hip hop and krump dance Violin - David Greilsammer Conductor Program: Alexandre Mastrangelo (b. 1989) Battle Zone (2025) Dimitri Shostakovitch (1906-1975) Symphony no. 5 in D minor Arrangement for orchestra : Jonathan Keren
