A Warm Welcome to the Next Living Room Concert at Gljúfrasteinn, Taking Place Next Sunday, July 27 at 4 PM Rebekka Blöndal and Karl Olgeirsson have collaborated for many years, and their repertoire includes a variety of jazzy duets. This time, they will leaf through the songbook of Elly Vilhjálmsdóttir and perform the songs in their own unique style. The program will feature songs that everyone should recognize. Karl Olgeirsson is well known to many as a pianist, choir conductor, composer, musical director for various theatrical productions, and organist at Ástjarnarkirkja. He has worked across pop, jazz, and classical music and has released numerous albums. He has also received the Icelandic Music Awards for the album Mitt bláa hjarta ("My Blue Heart"), the Gríma Award for theatre music, and a nomination for film music. Rebekka Blöndal is one of the country's leading jazz singers and has attracted considerable attention in recent years on the Icelandic music scene for her jazz vocals and compositions. She has performed widely and collaborated with many of Iceland’s top musicians. Rebekka won the Icelandic Music Award in 2022 for Vocal Performance of the Year in the jazz and blues category and has been nominated twice more since then. She released her first album in 2022 and plans to release her second in the fall of 2025. We look forward to enjoying the concert with you in the living room at Gljúfrasteinn next Sunday, July 27 at 4 PM. Admission is 3,900 ISK, and tickets are sold at the Gljúfrasteinn reception on the day of the concert.
