The young Benjamín Gísli in Concert – Part of the Laxness Museum Summer Series
Recognized for his lyrical sensitivity and evocative piano style, Benjamín Gísli has become one of Iceland’s leading young jazz pianists. His music blends jazz with classical influences, film music, and improvisation in the spirit of Keith Jarrett. Known for his melodic touch and expressive playing, Benjamín’s performances move freely between structure and spontaneity, tradition and innovation.
As part of the Laxness Museum’s summer concert series, Benjamín will perform a solo concert in the former living room of Halldór Laxness and Auður Laxness—continuing the tradition of intimate musical gatherings once held by the Nobel Prize-winning author and his family. This summer, we invite you to be part of that legacy.
Benjamín will perform a mix of his original compositions alongside Icelandic popular songs in his own arrangements.
Currently completing his Master’s degree at the Trondheim Academy of Music (NTNU), Benjamín has already built an impressive resume. He is a co-founder of the jazz label Fjordgata Records and has performed across Europe with groups like Bliss Quintet, Bento Box Trio, and Tuva Halse Quintet. His debut album Line Of Thought was released in 2023 to international acclaim. He has also performed for the Norwegian Royal Family and has twice been a finalist in Jazzintro, Norway’s premier jazz competition.
We warmly welcome you to join us in the Laxness Museum living room for this unique summer concert.
