Students in the 7th grade of Borgaskóli perform a concert and share the results of a Icelandic historic string instrument (Langspil) workshop under the guidance of the musician and ethnographer Eyjólfur Eyjólfsson. During the workshops, the students learned to master the basics of langspil, such as plucking with swan feathers, strumming and bow strokes. They have also received training in interaction with two members of the chamber group Nordic Affect who play baroque instruments and electronic musician Victor Riley Shepardson, who is also a member of the Intelligent Instruments Lab at the University of Iceland. The concert combines the soundscape of many Icelandic historic string instruments, baroque instruments and artificial intelligence in improvisation and in the performance of Icelandic folk songs and baroque works. The students will perform in two groups and the concerts will take place at 12:30 and 1:30 pm in the Spöngin City Library. The project is supported by the City of Reykjavík and the Music Fund.
