Þórunn Árnadóttir graduated from the department of product design at Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2007. She later continued her studies and graduated with MA in Design Products from Royal College of Art in London 2011. Þórunn is driven by curiosity, playfulness, and a deep interest in different cultures, materials, and production processes. She looks at things from a fresh perspective— a candle is not just a candle, as seen in her PyroPet candles and a clock is not just a clock, her Sasa clock for example measures time with beads. Þórunn is the head designer and co-founder of the company 54°Celsius, together with Dan Koval. At the museum, Þórunn plans to focus on a new type of scent diffuser that combines functionality with sculptural forms inspired by paper folding. She will explore shapes, materials, and performance through two- and three-dimensional sketches and models, aiming to present the process and initial prototypes at DesignMarch 2025. The residency is sponsored by Safnasjóður
